Rutger Hauer stars in this action comedy as a homeless man who
takes vigilantism to a new scale. Arriving in a new city, our hero
soon realises that it is a hotbed of crime and corruption presided
over by gang bosses and bent cops who will do nothing to deliver
justice. Armed robberies, prostitution and paedophilia are rife,
and the only obvious way to tackle the perpetrators is to take to
the streets with a 20-guage pump-action shotgun.

'A rollercoaster ride of a thriller . . . will keep you hanging on
by your fingertips until the tense final moments' PETER ROBINSON
THE DARKNESS FROM HIS PAST WILL FINALLY COME TO LIGHT The death of
DS Tyler's father irrevocably changed his life. As a child, he
believed Richard had killed himself but, as the years have passed,
Tyler has grown convinced he was murdered. When a cold case lands
on Tyler's desk, there's nothing immediately notable about it,
apart from the link it has to his father. Richard was investigating
the same case shortly before he died. Finally, Tyler has a tangible
link to the past, one that could give him the answers he has been
looking for. And while there are dangerous people who will do
anything to keep him quiet, he knows he has to keep digging.

For nearly four decades, Russ Quaglia has been laying the
groundwork to inform, reform, and transform schools through student
voice. That deep commitment is reflected in this inspirational
book. Quaglia and his coauthors at the Quaglia Institute for School
Voice & Aspirations deftly synthesize the thoughts and feelings
of hundreds of thousands of stakeholders and offer a vision for
schools where everyone's voice matters. They posit that students,
teachers, administrators, and parents must work and learn together
in ways that promote deep understanding and creativity. Making this
collaborative effort successful, however, requires widespread
recognition that all stakeholders have something to teach, and they
all have a role to play in moving the entire school forward. We
must abandon the ""us versus them"" fallacy in education; there is
only ""us."" To that end, The Power of Voice in Schools: Offers a
way forward that can be used in any school. Addresses the
importance of everyone's voice in the school community. Articulates
the lessons learned from listening to these voices over the past
decade. Suggests concrete, practical strategies for combined teams
of students, teachers, parents, and administrators to make a
difference together. This book reflects the dream of a true
partnership in listening, learning, and leading together. When the
potential of voice is fully realized, schools will look and feel
different. Cooperation will replace competition and conflict,
collaboration will replace isolation, and confidence will replace
insecurity. Most important, the entire school community will work
in partnership with one another for the well-being of students and
teachers.
The city of Monroe, Louisiana originated in the late 1700s with The
official beginning of the Ouachita Post. French settlers, including
Don Juan Filhiol with his land grant of 1,680 acres from the King
of Spain, came to this region and laid the foundations for a
community once known as Fort Miro but incorporated as Monroe in
1820. West Monroe (formerly Trenton) would follow in 1889 and today
the two towns are separated by a river but connected in preserving
their shared history. "Silver sparkling water" and "Silver River"
defined Ouachita to the early Native American tribes in
Northwestern Louisiana. The Ouachita tribe members were indeed the
earliest known inhabitants, living on the land before the
establishment of Fort Miro and the bustling villages of the 1790s.
Such growth and progress led to the appearance of railroads and
plantation systems in the 19th century along with showboats and the
adoption of Monroe's Charter. The 20th century brought the Ouachita
Parish Library in 1916; the arrival of Delta Airlines in 1927; the
first radio station, KMLB, in 1930; the opening of Louisiana Junior
College, now University of Louisiana at Monroe, in 1931; the
organization of the Little Theatre in 1932; and a wide variety of
civic, cultural, and social opportunities for the residents of
Monroe and West Monroe. Memories of such grand events are coupled
alongside the fond recollections of everyday life in this
unprecedented volume of vintage photographs.

This title is part of a brand new set of non-fiction phonically
decodable reading books perfect for very early readers. These
expertly levelled books are engaging, and are exactly matched to
Little Wandle Letters & Sounds Revised, used in schools across
the UK. The artwork and photographs are detailed so as not to
provide picture cues and prompting. Each book also contains
parent's notes and a 'talk about it' task to support children's
oracy, vocabulary and comprehension skills. Thirteen sets of
non-fiction books covering groups of sounds to allow for
progression. There are thirteen sets in total, covering: Phase 2
